Hello,

This tutorial will teach you how to edit the 3d files (.nvx2).

To start, obviously, you will want to import the file that you wish to edit into 3ds Max.
WHAT YOU SHOULD NOT DO IS EDIT IT AND EXPORT IT BACK TO .nvx2!! THIS DOES NOT WORK!!
After you imported the file, export it as a Wavefront Object (.obj). You must export it with the same name as the .nvx2 file. Make sure that the dialog looks like this when exporting:


Now, you should import the Object file into 3ds Max. This is how the import dialog should look:

MAKE SURE TO UNCHECK 'default'! (Click to uncheck.)

You can now make any changes to the scene that you want.

Once you have made the changes that you would like, export the scene using the Nebula2 exporter. The export log should be something similar to this:
Start exporting.
A scene option custom attribute is not specified.

The texmap for 'DiffMap0' is null. Use default 'textures:system/white.dds'
A directory for the file caravan_part1 is not specified. So it is exported to home:export/meshes.

The texmap for 'DiffMap0' is null. Use default 'textures:system/white.dds'
A directory for the file caravan_part1 is not specified. So it is exported to home:export/meshes.
The shape node '/export/caravan_part12' has no material, so create default one
The texmap for 'DiffMap0' is null. Use default 'textures:system/white.dds'
A directory for the file caravan_part1 is not specified. So it is exported to home:export/meshes.
The shape node '/export/caravan_part13' has no material, so create default one
The texmap for 'DiffMap0' is null. Use default 'textures:system/white.dds'
A directory for the file caravan_part1 is not specified. So it is exported to home:export/meshes.
The shape node '/export/caravan_part14' has no material, so create default one
The texmap for 'DiffMap0' is null. Use default 'textures:system/white.dds'
A directory for the file caravan_part1 is not specified. So it is exported to home:export/meshes.

The texmap for 'DiffMap0' is null. Use default 'textures:system/white.dds'
A directory for the file caravan_part1 is not specified. So it is exported to home:export/meshes.
A directory for the file caravan_part1 is not specified. So it is exported to home:export/meshes.
Build tangents and normals...
 - Build triangle normals, tangents, and binormals...
 - Build vertex tangents...
Building mesh tangents and normals done.
Warning: The exported mesh file 'meshes:caravan_part1.nvx2' has geometry errors.
   - See the file 'meshes:caravan_part1.error' for the details.
A directory for the file caravan_part1 is not specified. So it is exported to home:export/gfxlib.
End exporting.

Make sure to export it with the same name as before. Otherwise the game will crash.

Is the new part attached to the rest of the body? If not, you'll need to define the textures and the BodyColor modifier in the CarLod0 n2 file.
