I like to know if it's possible to create soundbank, wavebank etc. based on real life actual recording of an engine sound say in .wav format ?

That means say i make actual recording of vehicle engine sounds under idling, acceleration, crusing, deceleration (with exhaust brake or retarder sound for coaches)in single .wav file, then how to get it converted into format acceptable in CCD so that the sounds can be applied to the vehicle mod ?

Under Windows 10, what is the software to use if this can be done ?

Hello

Its possible but its very hard sounds for this game sounds are usually from Forza as its easier to do thats what i use for making sounds in the game if you want to record you own sound i was thinking to do the same thing i think you need a sound recorder i think for a mobile phone/tablet app and record it from there and upload it to PC then you can put it in the Wav format if its on MP3 you need a sound converter to convert it heres the following softwares i use it to convert WAV formats from ADP to ADPCM in order for it to work also i think it can be used to convert MP3 to WAV one of them i can't find the official website.

softe-audio-converter.soft32.com/

www.moo0.com/?top=http://www.moo0.com/software/AudioTypeConverter/

And i you want to edit the sound you recorded you don't want IRL then use the Wave Editor which is what i used to fix the cutting out horn or it can be for a sound that is not needed.

www.wave-editor.com/

Heres how to use the software

For Softe software

Download it and install it and accept everything that comes up it might ask you for additional software i can't remember how i got rid of that i think i unticked it i can't remember now if you it does ask you that part untick it i think once you installed it you can't convert were you see a right arrow on the top left hand side and convert it in WAV and PCM for it to work that way it will be in the correct format i don't really use this software but i think its more useful for RL recordings.

Moo0

Download and install that this one i think is simpler to install just accept everything that comes up and you can use it where it says convert to convert to .WAV ::Lossless:: and convert it and this will be in the correct format and you can use your advanced Options as well this tells you the Frequency: (Sample Rate) Stereo / Monaural: (Channels) Stereo / Monaural: (Channels) Data Size Unit: (Bits per Sample) Volume: and you can minimize it as well by clicking two arrows saying Minimize like this << Minimize.

Once this are done you can go though the the software Kivlovs provide with the link TJs given you

Heres following softwares in this topic.

download.cnet.com/DirectX-Software-Development-Kit-June-2010/3000-2069_4-75453831.html

This one below can also be used for editing WAV files but thats one more complicated the Wave Editor is easier

download.cnet.com/Microsoft-Visual-Studio-2010-Ultimate/3000-2383_4-75450998.html

I think thats it i hope this help you in making real life car engine sounds for this game i'm thinking to try this one day it will be a Volkswagen Golf diesel sound more details are included in the websites the project file is also included in TJs link.

Thank you for your comprehensive reply.
For engine sound recordings i use my Nokia N9 & L1520 phones with 2 to 4 channel recording in .wav format set to highest frequency & bit rates, hoping for the best sounds.

It manage to capture quite realistic low note tone of a big V8 diesel of a coach when i play it on my hifi speakers it's just like on the actual vehicle itself..very life-like !!
I also have 30 year old cassette tape mono recording of the Mercedes-Benz OF1417 with the big OM360 diesel with the famous very loud exhaust brake..which i also hope to find a way to get it converted to usable form in CCD.

To me, a realistic driving simulator is not complete without matching realistic engine sounds i.e. 4 cylinder engine definitely sounds different from 5 or 6 cylinder version & V8 of course in the upper class of its own...i suppose you know what i mean..especially when after you've experienced the real thing & now try to re-create it in CCD ?

I don't think it's that easy to do it but i'll try it out noting your suggestions.

No problem. :) All the correct details should be in the website because i downloaded the software a while a go so i don't exactly remember but i think thats how downloaded and installed it and used it its not easy but i think its possible but hard heres a video tutorial by Daeman on how to make the sounds for this game this still stands today for the latest version just delete the extra files on the left hand side only leaving the car wavebank and car soundbank file thats the only thing you need to make sure its compatible with the latest version. And this is optional the you can add the ABS sounds as well i think you can also record real life ABS sounds i never done that before but i think the principles should be similar.

Heres the video tutorial by Daeman
