Mods with no "user_cars.xml" or "player_cars.xml" 02 Feb 2023 01:45 #116754

hello everyone. i'm having trouble installing mods into the game. copying and pasting the "data" and "export" files into my CCD installation folder seems not to be enough, as the cars show up in the menu but when selected, they cause the game's original textures/meshes to fail to load (therefore crashing). the tutorials posted here are outdated and useless, as they all tell you to copy and paste the contents of the "player_cars.xml" file, which is no longer included in newer mods. how can i get the cars to work?
sorry for the long paragraph.
thanks.

Hi,

If you are seeing the cars in your menu, then you don't need to do the player_cars.xml step.

If you are getting a texture/mesh issue related to Car01 or similar, but you are trying to load a modified vehicle, then the issue is not with the mod itself. There are occasions where this issue is caused by trying to load a heavily detailed mod on a lower performance computer.

However, if the error references the name/author of a car you are trying to load, then it is possible that the mod is broken. In this case, you need to ensure that you have the latest version. If others are reporting issues, then the mod might be faulty.

Hope it helps.

right. truth is i'm playing on an i7 laptop (i know they aren't fully supported, but it works just fine). the mods are somewhat heavy most of the time, and some haven't ever been updated since 2016 :(. thank you for your help.
