This may be something that a lot of you might not find useful, but for things like Photoshop and video thumbnails, .jpg is never the best option because of the compression used in the file type. There is a way, however, to change the in-game screenshot file type to .png, .tga, or .bmp. This is a tutorial on how to do that.
Step 1:
Navigate to your City Car Driving Home Edition folder. Open the section
data\config.
Step 2:
Open the file
capture.xml in your favorite text editor. I will be using Notepad++. You can use Notepad or WordPad if you do not have any special programs installed. Be sure to change the default program for opening .xml files if you haven't already. The default is Internet Explorer/Microsoft Edge, which will not allow you to open them.
Step 3:
Select your favorite file type. I will be using .bmp. Now, navigate to the 25th line. It should read
by default.
Step 4:
Change the "jpg" between the quotation marks to tga, bmp, or png respectively. Save the file to your desktop. Then, move it back into your config folder, replacing the old one and accepting any prompts.
Step 5:
Now, head in-game and take some screenshots. The default bind to take them is F12. You can locate these in My Documents under Forward Development within the City Car Driving folder. The folder with the shots is labeled "Screenshots".
