TOPIC: Is CCD really realistic?

Is CCD really realistic? 27 Dec 2021 16:28 #115983

Hi,
I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong but in this game the only difference between gears 1 to 6 is that 1 is the only gear that can be used to start the car. I don't see any difference between gears 2-6 becase upshifting doesn't cause RPM decreace or increase in maximum speed. I play ETS2 and upshifting lowers RPM while downshifting increased RPM. In CCD changing gears seems to do nothing.

Hi,

The gearbox works as expected for me, I am not sure what you're doing to have this problem.

I use manual trans, Logitech G29 + pedals + shifter.
When I change to higher gear number I expect decrease in RPM and increase in max speed.
When I change to lower gear number I expect increase in RPM and decrease in max speed.
Neither of above two can be observed.
Moreover when I push on accelerator just a bit RPM skyrockets to red zone no matter what gear has been selected.

This is not normal.

Can you provide a video of this occuring?
Also, a screenshot of your steering wheel settings would help.

Below is video that shows configuration and shifting gears on three different cars.
I don't see clear difference between higher and lower gears.
Maybe maximum speed on each next gear is higher by 10 kmph.
I have changed gas linearity to 100% which made accelerator less sensitive.
Also when I hit break pedal and stop the car with clutch engaged engine doesn't turn off which also doesn't seem to be correct. When I relase break, car starts to roll again.

It appears the game is detecting around 50% clutch input at all times.
This is what causes the car to seem to reach the redline constantly, because it is similar to revving the engine with the clutch in. It also explains the engine never stalling.

Try to re-assign your clutch pedal - ensuring you press it all the way down.

Thank you! I've set clutch linearity to 100% and dead zone to 100% because on such settings clutch bar shows 100% while driving. Gears started working and engine turns off when expected. This also means default setting called "Logitech G29 + Shifter" is not fully correct.

I don't think setting the dead zone to 100% is a correct way of fixing the issue.

I think the problem is in incorrect pedal mode. Check out the advanced controls menu – there're two-way and one-way settings for pedals. So, try setting different options for the gas and brake pedals there.

When I set clutch linearity to 100% clutch is engaged in about 90% so to have it fully engaged I need to set dead zone to 100%.

That's quite strange behavior. It also maybe a hardware defect of the pedals. Have you checked if your pedals work correctly in the Windows controllers panel or in Logitech software?
