The game only crashes in Free mode

Free mode tends to be more intensive on your computer than career mode.

You can try this to fix the problem:
If your PC has both – discrete and integrated video cards, then maybe the game uses the integrated one for some reason. Try forcing the game to the dedicated one – right click on the game shortcut and select Run with GPU <your dedicated video card>. If not, try these steps:

1. Install DirectX and Visual C++ components from this folder manually, go to this folder -
"...Steam\steamapps\common\City Car Driving\_CommonRedist\" and install all the components from there.

In some cases this folder can be located in a different place - "... Steam\steamapps\common\Steamworks Shared".

2. Update your video card driver to the latest version from your video card manufacturer's website.

3. Update your sound card driver to the latest version from your sound card manufacturer's website.

4. If you're using a racing wheel (or any other controller), update its driver to the latest version from your controller manufacturer's website.

5. Turn off any antivirus or firewall software.

6. Check the game cache integrity in Steam client.

7. Turn off the Steam cloud profile synchronization for City Car Driving – open your Steam client, click on City Car Driving with right mouse button and choose “Properties” from the context menu. Then open the tab “Updates” and there turn off the option “Enable Steam Cloud synchronization for City Car Driving”.

8. Delete the folder "Forward Development" from your "My Documents" folder.

Then run the game again.

I Cant find : 7. I think there is another way to turn it off but I'm not certain if this will help at least give it a try, It can't seem to be found turning it off for CCD alone but you can turn it off but it may affect other games you use on Steam as well if you have other games on there, First open up Steam and in the top left hand corner click "Settings", Then click "Cloud" Then turn off (untick) "Enable Steam Cloud synchronization for applications which support it", Do that at your own risk of course, Let me know if it works or not or if it caused other problems. As far as I can see I don't see other ways to solve it.

No problem, Yes possibly, Make sure you test multiple mods and try the standard cars in the game, Because some mods may not work for whatever reasons one of them could be they are out of date or not made properly that may help.

I have been looking into this I suggest maybe trying those suggestions first if you really badly want it to work on your old PC because usually buying a new PC which is the best option for now if you want it to work in the mean time try maybe some other solutions maybe because buying a new PC is a big step especially just for something that doesn't work of course you can still buy a new PC in your own time but lets consider all the options first in case you are reluctant into doing that, Since your saying career mode works and free mode doesn't its naturally going to use more power, Ok they may not be the best options but they are still options it might still not work but we can at least try.

2. Try and lower the graphics settings in the game

Again maybe not the best way but it might help Open up City Car Driving and go into "settings" and click "Graphics" I apologize if you already tried that,

3. Try and remove some mods in the game

You can remove mods in game the ones you may not want that slows it down and uses more power as well for certain but I don't know how much mods you have or how long you have the game for and if your new to the game or had it a long time and ran into this issue or had it newly first time or how powerful your PC is what specs they are. Video tutorial by THETJVIDCHANNEL, This could help as well maybe in case you didn't know this can be done, You can certainly any remove any of my mods for example if you wish since they can use a lot of power because for some reason I make the files are quite large and use a lot of power. You can also do this also for mods that don't work as well.

All these are compromises since your PC probably isn't powerful enough to run it but it might work, I shouldn't be responsible for any damage or loss on your PC for all of this but yourself and should be done at your risk only, I'm just giving suggestions that I would suggest trying, Truthfully I don't think they are the best suggestions but I suppose it could still be tried I think they are best temporary solutions rather then permanent but at least you can consider all the options I given you if you wish to use them but I don't recommend using them as permanent solutions.
