Installed the game, did everything correctly (one hopes), set up my steering wheel, but when i get in the car I can't change out of park. I even tried resetting some buttons on the wheel, to simple things like "R" for reverse. Is it my wheel? It's not the best but it does everything else so far.Or am I missing something in the settings...

Hi, If you go to the controls in settings, change 'Next Gear' to your desired button and 'Previous Gear' to your desired button, this will let you change through the gears on the Automatic gearbox :)

Also don't forget to stop your car and press the brake pedal when you want to change gear otherwise it wont work! Hope this helped

If it doesn't work, start the game in 2nd gear. Release it after you're in the game and shift. :)
If this doesn't work, use the shifter to shift into gear then release and use next/previous gear accordingly.

Thanks so much! I will try this tomorrow. Crossing fingers.

Any recommendations on how to program other functions, such as are certain ones better left on the keyboard and some on the wheel?

If this is a Logitech G27 then you need to put the stick into the middle and use the keyboard or what ever you have set to shift gears up and down and select R and then reverse into position and put the stick back where you wanted it before and TA DA

Thanks for the advice - everything works fine now. :)

EXCEPT - now that I can finally drive in the game I notice my steering wheel strongly veers to the left. I have read to calibrate it when that's a problem, however mine doesn't have that option. It is fairly inexpensive and I think I got what I paid for. But I'd prefer not to spend $300 on a wheel, any recommendations for a good one that doesn't cost *too* much?

I'm thinking a Logitech Driving Force GT.... I have looked for used but can't find. This seems reasonably priced new.

I'm a Logitech DFGT user, it's a great wheel for the price :) Only problem is that there is quite a bit of noise from the wheel when turning, but that's because it's geared rather than operates using belts like the G25 and the G27

Yep. DFGT is the way to go if you don't have much money to spend. I bought mine as a successor to a 180 degree wheel and its completely fine with city car driving. The noise problem IMO is not an issue because its not about the quality its about what it gives in-game and feedback wise its completely fine :)
