Please help, I just bought the game! 16 Nov 2013 07:27 #18381

Hello. Ive just made my account on the forum and bought the game. I had an older version before and I had COMPLETELY removed it like the instructions say, by removing the folder in My Docs, removing the folder in Local Disk, and removing the City Car Driving from Programs. I tried to run my new install, and it still says "City Car Driving is Already installed!" Can someone please help? This is a $25 game and I do not want that going down the drain!
I hope to play soon.
And yes, I have the correct CityCarDriving_En.exe, (is what tells me I already have it) :S

Did you uninstall the game from control panel/uninstall? Or just removed the folders?

look in the registry at this key, if it exists, delete it :)
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Forward Development

Also if you have a 64 bit OS you'll have this one also:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Forward Development

If you have no idea how to do it via regedit.exe then this .reg file will delete them both for you :)
www.dropbox.com/s/pxg5go13kgqjp30/delete.ccd.reg

You can right click and press edit to see the contents of the file and what it does. it is not malicious ;)
Its also here:
Shows both keys and the - at the start indicates delete key.. just as a + means create key :)

Someone else had this problem. See citycardriving.com/component/kunena/?func=view&catid=5&id=16405

You might wanna try this before the registry thing. It's easier.
1. Download and install the previous version of the game (1.2.5) using this link – citycardriving.com/files/CityCarDriving_1.2.5.exe

2. Uninstall the game correctly using the "Programs and components" menu in the control panel.

3. Delete the game folder, where the game was installed to (if something remains after uninstallation there).

4. Delete the folder "Forward Development" from your "My Documents" folder.

5. Install the latest version of the game 1.3. After previous steps it should be installed correctly without any errors.

Oh. I'll tell the developer to add these two solutions to the FAQ, if it isn't already. I just copied his suggestion  .

I've seen a few threads on here with the same problem, un-installing or deleting the folders without actually using the un-installer program will leave the registry entries. Then when its trying to re-install the installer might see those registry entries and think that the program is still installed.
Remove them and it should install, As it did :)
