I've ran into a problem that isn't really solved by anything I've read so far.. It's probably just my luck. OK, so I downloaded CCD 1.3 today after purchasing at its special sales price for black Friday, and I was thoroughly excited to play. I downloaded the file to my Downloads folder, (I'm on a 64bit Windows 8 operating system, and I'm pretty sure my computer meets the requirements...) and I moved it to my desktop. I started the installation as administrator and it started just fine, I set my preferences and let it install. It asked only to install DirectX and I let it do what it needed to do. The game is installed, and it is on my desktop. At first I just opened it like a regular file and it says
"This program requires a security key. If you have one, select OK to enter it. After entering a valid key, you will not be prompted again."

I click OK, and enter my activation key. I click register, and a new window opens, and it says
"Key is valid and has been stored."

I click OK.

This message shows up again ^

I click OK, and it displays the same window as the one you enter your activation key in, but with nothing on it. It's just white.

I close it, and I (like I read somewhere on the forums) right click CCD and click "Run as Administrator"
and it Freezes my computer.. Not immediately, but my taskbar will eventually stop responding, then my entire interface will. I'm forced to manually restart my computer.

I am BEYOND annoyed at this!

It's a common problem, but strange... Running as administrator usually fixes this problem. You'll have to wait for a developer in this forum to notice this thread and reply.

Hello,

Try these steps:

1. Turn of the UAC - windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-vista/turn-user-account-control-on-or-off

2. Temporary turn off any antivirus or firewall software.

After that run the game as administrator (right click on its' shortcut and choose "Run as administrator" in the context menu) and enter your activation key again.

If these 2 steps will not help – then try logging as the main computer account as described here – helpdeskgeek.com/windows-8/log-on-as-administrator-in-windows-8/ and then try launching the game from there.

Kivlov, you should have a message on the forum, with a button that says help on the post, that says the stuff about running as admin and the security stuff.
