TOPIC: Oculus Rift support PLEASE!

Re: Oculus Rift support PLEASE! 06 Feb 2015 10:11 #41763

four and a half months later...no progress whatsoever, sigh :(
I must say that I've lost hope by now of ever experiencing the oculus in city driving. Thx to Susu986 I got a halfbaked experience, which is gr8, but now the trial time is over for the TriDef...
What on earth could be taking so much time to implement a little bit of code, screw the new city and focus on implementing OR plz!!! Sometime this month guys!

Barely anybody has a rift. I don't believe the devs should focus on this if they can't even get one.

The devs has a DK2 long time ago, scroll back in this thread and you'll see. There are lots out there with a rift or planning to buy a rift only if this game starts supporting it. And many thinks that it will bring alot more people into the game, once it is supported, just google it.
And if you ask me, a fully made sim-program is 100 times more worth than a sim you see only through a desktop screen with extra expansions.

I got the Oculus Rift working with City Car Driving. It's not native support but it works pretty well! Here is a thread showing the video and a nearly complete tutorial on how to get it running: http://citycardriving.com/component/kunena/?func=view&catid=5&id=42122

Hope it works out for you all! It isn't too hard to do. My only issue was finding which programs would actually allow it. Please let me know if it does work for you, it'd be really cool to hear that the tutorial helped people!

The devs have a rift, they've had one for ages, there are no problems getting one either and they are very cheap too.

Just read that Oculus have sold over 100,000 rifts, that's not 'barely anyone', I bought City car driving on the promise that oculus support would be in the next update, it wasn't and now the dev's are saying it will be in the next update. we'll see.

The last update on the site was last year, so that's almost two months of nothing, no news, nothing.

I for one am waiting for support.

Just a note, those of you out there in simland who have spent a fortune on multi-screen setups, that are always on about how your setup is better than the rift, and why should developers waste their time etc etc. you have obviously not experienced the rift yet or are embarrassed to admit that you are wrong, the rift is absolutely game changing. and you cannot, ever, understand how good it is until you experience it for yourself (even in it's current unfinished state). YouTube videos and hearsay just don't cut it. Not one person that I have let have a go on mine has ever said, ooh no, I much prefer a flat 2D screen to this, It's always, where/how do i get one.

Think about it, 1% of 100,000 = 1000 sales, rift owners are buying up anything that has support at the moment.

There're more than enough of my replies about Oculus Rift in this thread already.

What are you talking about?

First, you told here:

Kivlov
Next update will surely have Oculus rift support!
===

Then you told there:
=== (translation)
Sat Jan 17, 2015 3:15 pm
In the next update.
===

Are these more than enough? I'm former game developer and I know that there must be work plan with certain dead lines. Three months have passed since your last words. And they were too indistinct.

I don't know, may be it's your way to keep relation with customers at such level. In my opinion, it's not exactly what I expected. I suppose it's all about monopoly and you rely entirely on good fortune.

I understand if you're experiencing technical or financial problems. But you say nothing except "next update".

What a bummer.

Are there any chances to get an approximate date? I'm not talking about the support itself but at least about date.

FD officials say that support will be added in the next coming update. As far as I understand it's update with winter, not sure what exact number it will be.

Let's cross fingers…
