TOPIC: clutch not registering in Controls

clutch not registering in Controls 26 Dec 2013 05:44 #20564

I never had this problem with version 1.2, but I just installed 1.32 today and I can't get my Fanatec CSR clutch to register in controls. I'm on Win 7 64-bit, and CSR firmware 7.5/drivers 1.77. The clutch registers fine in the Fanatec control panel. Once I even did get it to pop in as the -z axis, but to see if it was a fluke, I blew it out of there so I can see what was going on, and have never gotten it back in again since.

What's the trick? Gas pedal works, brake works, all other axes and buttons work fine, but not clutch. I double-click clutch in the menu, then hold the clutch fully depressed, and it just comes up blank (or whatever was in there beforehand, as the case may be)

For what it's worth, I also rolled my drivers back to 1.44. I tried unplugging the shifter, which seemed to allow the cluth to input, but then wouldn't work in the game. I have tried pushing the clutch all the way slowly, quickly, half way, keeping it down from before I double-click, just a small amount, reverse, etc. etc.

The clutch works fine in other games (Live for Speed, Assetto Corsa) that use clutch. And it's recognized in Windows through the Fanatec control panel.

I also just updated my firmware to 756, so I have the latest official drivers and firmware. Still no change.

Have you tried re-installing the game? Or even restarting your computer?

I did restart the computer several times while experimenting with different drivers and firmware. I didn't try reinstalling the game, only because it was a fresh install from this afternoon, from a fresh download of the full version installer. I will reinstall tonight, though.

Also, When reinstalling, be sure to delete the folder "Forward Development" from "Documents".

I uninstalled, deleted that folder from "documents" and reinstalled. Same situation. I'm pulling my hair out here. The clutch is clearly working and communicating with Windows, not to mention other driving sims. Any other suggestions?

EDIT: I've had some success! It occurred to me that I should try connecting the pedals directly to the computer rather than to the wheel. It works this way, but it never used to be this way. I lose out on the vibration from heavy breaking, since the vibration comes through the wheel, but that's basically it. I will have to determine whether I will need to go back and forth regarding the connection routine for this sim vs. all others. I hope this will get looked into, though, and patched to allow the normal connection of pedals -> wheel -> PC, just like was working when I first bought City Car Driving a couple years ago. For now, I'm just glad it's working.
