I knew you cracked it! You can have 1.2.2 and 1.3.3 on the same system without managing the profiles because the profile folders are differently named.

1.2.2 mods work on 1.2.2 game. 1.3.3 mods work with 1.3.3 game. 1.2.2 mods do not work with 1.3.3 game, and 1.3.3 mods do not work with 1.2.2 game.

You can downgrade the game because uninstalling one version and installing another is just like uninstalling a software and installing another one.

What makes even less sense is his question "Why can I downgrade to 1.2.2?".
