It is important to see your surroundings when you drive, and it is uncomfortable to continuously use the 'look left' / 'look tight' buttons.

Is there any multi monitor support planned for city car driving? Better yet, is there a way to force a very wide screen display on a single monitor (letterboxed) ?

Yes, there's wide and multi monitor support. Also we plan the TrackIR support, but not sure will be in time or not.

That's great that it supports wide angle viewing on a single monitor, I want to run mine on a 42 inch Sony TV, or even the new 55 inch, but how do I it please?

I see to activate three screens is in the control settings, making " triple head = true" works, but how do I get a single monitor wide screen view that shows the side windows and both mirrors at the same time.

Much appreciated.

Also, I've just ordered an Oculus Rift. Will this game support that unit and how do I go about that please!

Just connect it to your PC via HDMI. :)

Thank you and I have done this and it runs fine, but it still only gives me a single view of the road ahead.
When I toggle the G27 switches I get the right hand view and the left hand view, and it is this I want to see all the time. Im happy to crop the view from top and bottom, its this wide angle view I want displaying all the time. The triple screens show this view continuously across three screens, so it can be done, but HOW do I do it on just one large screen?

Thanks again

I want to ask did you successfully run CCD by eyefinity ? Did the side screens looks stretched?

Re: Multi monitor / wide displays 27 Dec 2013 07:37 #20600

I haven't gone down this route yet of downloading external software etc, as at present I only have one bloody big screen, not three and I was hoping to be able to do it from within the CCD programme itself, from internal settings. My PC and graphics card have the capacity to run this, I am just lacking the knowledge of how to even start setting up. Eyefinity appears to be great for multiple screen set ups, and many Youtube clips show it working, but again, I just want the entire available wide screen view on one big monitor, cropped top and bottom!

Perhaps I need some other third party software, one that holds all three available views open at once, showing the side views I want. As by now is apparent, Im not that technically savvy on this, so ANY help or links would be appreciated, even the obvious ones.

The reason I don't want to go triple screens is the cost and space issue and I already have a big screen set up on it. I even have a digital projector I can run too, so cropping isn't an issue, but this lack of wide view is. I've got an Oculus Rift developers pack on order, so that's really going to be a headache setting up, if I can't even get a bloody single monitor to give me a wide view!!!

I don't think that would be in the devs priority list since it's a quite peculiar request, it's not everyday that we see people wanting to display a 48:9 framebuffer in a 16:9 device :)

You might wanna try SoftTH, IIRC it does what you want. It is possible that you might end up needing fake/dummy DVI/HDMI plugs to simulate 3 displays in EyeFinity/Surround while the GPU driver renders at 5760x1080 and SoftTH (or some other similar software) scales and blits the framebuffer to the primary display.

Thank you, for at least one solution to this problem so far, but making up dummy leads sounds problematic.

My angle on it is there's lots of big old 42 inch plasmas and LCDs TVs out there now, I will have two spare shortly, about to go bigger still in the front room to 55 inch, so it makes sense to utilise one for this. It drives really well full screen, and it actually displays life size at present ( I've photographed the screen display and the view from my car, both from my true sitting/ driving position and they give the same size and field of view!), but I find flicking a button to see left or right, hugely distracting and not at all intuitive for future driver training of my kids. Second hand plasma $300, three high res monitors $1500, plus a $400 triple stand to hold them, plus $350 for the additional graphics card upgrade.

$300 compared to $2,250, I could even use the new 55 inch for that price and crop that!

Thanks again, but any other ideas anyone, or direct links would be appreiciated. Ideally written into the programme to toggle switch, to shift between views, like utilising an extra camera view, would be perfect and a pretty cool addition I think. They do a close and closer camera dash view. Just let it pull back further and allow it to crop the roof and dash graphics off.
Devs, you think that's possible?
