Hello everybody,

I bought the game three weeks ago and it's great. By going for a ride, I saw two big led panels in the old town, as we can see with these two added pictures, but their screens are always black ! I tried all the moment of a day to see if it's different, but nothing.

It's too bad, because these panels could diffuse a picture, or best, a short movie for doing more "true" :cheer: I looked for the black screen in the files, to try to change them by a picture, but I didn't find it ! Do you know if it's possible ?

Thank you and have a good day,

Best,

You should send a message to the developers (I put the email adress below). I have never seen this bug in any CCD copy. What version are you using? 4.1 or older?

Hopes, this helped,

Pierre A.

Hello Pierre,

Thank you very much for your answer, even if I take a long time to do it, sorry...

Indeed, I'm using the 1.4.1. First from 1.4.0 to 1.4.1 by patch, and as it doesn't work better, by uninstalling all and installing the game from the original 1.4.1 exe. Not better too.

Please, can you tell me what do you see in these panels ? I looked for videos on youtube, from guys driving close to these panels, but I didn't find them yet.

I'm waiting for your answer, please, and I will write to the support.

Thank you and have a good day.

See you Pierre (french are you ?)

Best,

Hello,

I am sorry I made a mistake: I couldn't see your screenshots (I was using an older browser), so I thought you meant the panels at the bus stations which show ads!

Yes, the big panels in the middle of the roundabouts are completely black, so your game is fine. I will, however, check the CCD package files and see if it is possible to insert a .gif or .png file in the panels to seem more realistic.

I'll get back to you as soon as I have found a solution,

-Pierre A.

PS: Yes, I am French :)

Yeah.. No. This is not possible by just a normal player. The game only reads .dds files and you would need to physically edit the 3D model and the texture codes to do so, let alone shadows and lighting.

This is NOT a bug. Since earlier versions, there have never been anything broadcasted on these two LED screens.

It actually is possible for anyone to edit it, you just need to know how to edit the files.

If someone did it they had to make a script if they wanted to play something on the panel. that will take a long time and they might break the game

Are you seriously going to doubt my knowledge of the game? I have almost 4000 posts, I can edit textures, physics, and configuration. It isn't possible for the game to read an animated image file because of the nebula2 engine. The nebula2 engine uses DirectX to render textures and models and reads D3D textures (.dds) to render the textures over a 3D model. The thing is, the .dds file format cannot store the pixels to animate something, like .png or .gif. As well as this, it would require the creation of a nebula2 animation file which is not possible for modders to create using any utility. So no, it is not possible.

Hello everybody B) ,

Thank you for the answers.

Indeed, from the CCD 1.2.5 version, and up to now, the panels are black. But before, they didn't and a logo of the old CCD maker, I guess, was displayed.

By searching in the CCD files, I found in the directory export/gfxlib/universal/bilboard two files about the panels : ledMonitor_1.n2 and ledMonitor_2.n2. By editing them with Notepad (yes, we can !), the texture broadcasted is "black.dds", that we find in export/texturedds/system.

We can't change "black.dds" because this file is used in the game for other. But we can modify the two files ledMonitor_1.n2 and ledMonitor_2.n2, by renaming black.dds with "lcd01.dds" and "lcd02.dds".

I saw in the forum how to edit DDS files, so I decided to try. At the begining, I made a 800x480 picture with a fireworks to see. By saving it "lcd01" and "lcd02", I switched panels on !! Great ? Not really because I saw the panels split the picture to display a virtual movie...

I looked for the 1.2.2 version, and installed it. The really name of the picture's panel is : "logo_video.png.dds". The size of this picture is 2048x2048 and it contains 28 small pictures (4x7), of about 512x292 pixels, with vertial read and from left to right.

Now, with work, it's possible to broadcast something on the two black panels !!! And two different !!

Have a good end of the day,

Best,
