TOPIC: [CLOSED]Before Buy: Any feedback on Thinkpad e420?

[CLOSED]Before Buy: Any feedback on Thinkpad e420? 05 Apr 2015 08:48 #43693

Hi, I'm about to download the installer for CityCar Driving, however I think you cannot even start it without a license.

Before buying, my question is if any of you had experience on installing over a Thinkpad e420 from Lenovo, not great video and on board in fact. Thanks for any info about this.

Hello,
I wouldn't recommend using a laptop for City Car Driving, especially if it's just running on an integrated graphics card. The game will perform very poorly and will probably be unplayable.

For this laptop, the processor is, I think, a bit too slow and the Intel HD Graphics is unacceptable. Your game will not be very enjoyable. I suggest building a desktop with a discrete graphics card :) .

Here are the recommended system requirements:

OS: Windows 7 SP-1 / 8 / 8.1;
CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad / AMD Phenom II X4;
Video: discrete video card with DirectX 11 support (1024 Mb RAM);
RAM: 8 Gb DDR3 RAM;
HDD: 2.5 Gb of free space;
Screen: 1920x1080, 32 bit;
Sound: compatible with DirectX 9.0;
Other: keyboard, mouse, racing wheel;
Internet connection (needed for activation).
Warning! Correct program operation on laptops and integrated video cards is not guaranteed!

Hi Jericho! Thanks for your answer :). I finally took the risk and the game is working acceptably fine (yes I see some slowness in the complex graphics but it does work, I'll need to tune down the detail maybe). This is an i5, I upgraded to 8gb RAM and I'm using an SSD disk so it's really better than the standard (yep, the Intel Graphics board is the issue).

All in all it does work, I'm using a G27 wheel and fighting with the sensibility of wheel and the accelerator, specially (the clutch now I got it quite good with that tip of "let go slooowlyyy").

For now the old thinkpad will have to do :D Thanks again.
