Thanks for your suggestion. I repeated the same steps as above, this time not with the default car but with the second one in the car list. The bug also appears here. During the first
and the second Free Drive session, the mirrors had enough freedom for my purposes. (See
screenshot of adjusted mirrors.) But now in the third session, this is what I got: see
screenshot, that's as far as they go. Then the
fourth session is even worse.
Next, I deleted C:\Users\Administrator\Documents\Forward Development\City Car Driving and started with a clean profile. After 2 sessions with the second car and mirrors that worked well, I tried switching to the default car. The mirrors were jammed immediately. Then I switched back to the second car, and its mirrors were jammed too. (See
screenshot - that's as far as the mirrors go).
In another session I did the following (from a clean profile):
1. Free Drive with the second car, mirrors ok
2. Free Drive with the third car, mirrors ok
3. Free Drive with the second car, mirrors stuck
4. Free Drive with the third car, mirrors stuck
Conclusion: the bug also appears in other cars, and also stays when I switch cars between Free Ride sessions.
Note that it's possible that in the second session where I still think the mirrors are ok, they are actually already restricted to some degree. Just not enough yet to prevent proper adjustment.
To see if maybe the Windows region setting has anything to do with it, I tried both English (United States) and Dutch (Netherlands). The main difference between these localizations is that US has . as decimal separator while NL has , as decimal separator. Some software chokes on that, but in this case the bug appeared in both localizations.
To see if maybe the bug is specific to Free Drive mode, I once again deleted the settings folder and started the first training of Career mode on a clean profile. It turned out that this driving lesson uses the same car that's on second place in the car list for Free Drive mode. The results were exactly the same as in Free Drive mode. During the first two times I started the training exercise, I could properly adjust the mirrors. But the third and fourth session had jammed mirrors.
Here is a screenshot of the fourth session.
So far we've seen the bug is independent of graphics settings (DirectX etc.), Free Drive or career mode, restarting game/computer or not, virtual mirror setting (on or off), car choice and Windows localization. After spending some hours to prove these things, I would now really like to know whether the bug is independent of which computer one uses. I cannot try this myself, so my next question is: could anyone try exactly following the 10-point checklist from my previous post to see if the bug can be reproduced? You can skip the clean Windows 7 installation obviously, that's just there to make sure the bug is not due to anything in my OS.
It would really help to know whether this is something specific to my machine/installation, or something in general with CCD 1.4.1. Thanks in advance.
