TOPIC: trying to match wheel roatation with wheel in game

trying to match wheel roatation with wheel in game 26 Sep 2015 16:46 #52009

Does anybody know which config file to edit to adjust by how much the steering wheel rotates? I am using probably the cheapest wheel ever, so I had to set the 'linearity slider to minimum as suggested in these forums, and the steering is ok, but visually the wheel in graphics of the game turns maybe about 15 degrees for every say 2 or 3 degrees of turn on the wheel, if that makes sense.... difficult to explain. In other words a few degrees turn on the cheap wheel results in hectically large turns on the graphics wheel in the game.

I know exactly what you mean. I'm interested for an answer to this too - I eventually just turned off the steering wheel on screen because it was confusing having two wheels moving at two different rates in front of me!

i think they mean they want to change the rotation of the car so now it has 1080 degrees they want to change that
My own car: Volvo S60 2.4L 170BHP

I know but if I know what wheel they use for example logitech uses Logitech Profiler that way I can tell them how to and what setting to set it to. I understand their problem as it happens to me but I don't mind it that much.

No I dont mean that. It seems that the game is expecting a wheel that rotates 900 degrees or somewhere around there. If you use a cheap wheel that rotates say 120 degrees to the right of centre and 120 degrees left of centre, then obviously one would have to compensate for what the game expects by adjusting the wheel sensitivity. CCD deals with this by advising to adjust the wheel linearity setting in the game to a minimum. If you dont do this, the cars are undriveable as the wheel is too sensitive. If you move the cheap wheel ever so slightly in reality, the wheel on the game on the screen turns by huge amounts. I am guessing that a movement on the cheap wheel of say 5 degrees results in turns of at least 90 degrees or so on the wheel on the screen in the game... it looks crazy.

Strangely though, when I run Driving Simulator 2012, the cheap wheel is perfectly aligned with the wheel in game on the screen, and no adjustment is required. This tells me that parameters are read from the cheap wheels config files as set up when the wheel was installed when using Driving Simulator, but are not when using CCD. I would therefore like to be able to correct for this manually by fiddling with a config file... somewhere.... does this make sense now?

I looked through the files of CCD and found something that may be useful although I am not sure what to code in. I fully understand what you mean but I believe that this is something the developers can do as it is extremely hard for me to do without ruining my game along with fixing yours.

Hopefully someone can solve it soon. Here is a video, to show that you aren't alone!

On the other hand, who makes a steering wheel with only 180 degrees of rotation. On their website they claim it will make driving realistic but in reality, have you ever driven a car with 180 degree steering. Oh well it is a budget wheel.

Hey taurusalmighty,

I'm sorry but I think this problem might be too complicated for us on the forum to solve - I'll explain why:

I think that your problem requires the editing of numerous files. There must be one for the graphics, one for the steering sensitivity, one for the non - linearity... so it would take a lot of time to find the perfect number & test it.

Anyways, I think this may be a bit too hard for us :( . For now, maybe try turning off the wheel display like XMaranema suggested as that may be confusing. Perhaps you can PM the developer Kivlov or This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it , and they can answer you :cheer: .

Hope I helped,

That was what I meant and was trying to say.

After looking through the files to find a solution the game.ini has it I believe but the numbers are going to take a good two years to be fixed for you, and by then a new update would come out and would replace the game.ini and it would no longer work...
