Which computer is better? 28 Dec 2015 04:42 #57658

Which computer is better for gaming (City Car Driving, ETS2, Spintires, OMSI 2, BeamNG Drive etc), general use, etc, especially for City Car Driving gameplay & G27 Steering wheel hookup?:
Dell Area 51 Alienware www.dell.com/us/p/alienware-area51-r2/pd?ref=PD_OC
or
HP ENVY Phoenix 860st store.hp.com/us/en/pdp/desktops/hp-envy-phoenix-860st-desktop-n3g98av-aba-1?jumpid=Desktops_Finder_PDP

I'm currently computer shopping & I'm looking for a really good computer for my games, such as City Car Driving, ETS2 7 so on & for general use. This is for my Christmas present, albeit a late Christmas present & I'm also looking to purchase a G27 steering wheel as well. Does anyone have any more suggestions for me? If so, please leave a reply & I'll be more than happy to look @ it & possibly even reply to you. Thanks, everyone.

The issue I have with your statement is that I don't know how to build a computer. why are you suggesting that I should build my own?

They're both WAY more than enough to run all of these games on HD.

The HP, however, is much better:

- lower price
- Core is 6th generation, while Alienware is 4th.

Alienware is a big ripoff compared to other brands, but it's still good enough though.

The HP would be much better but I recommend building one. If you don't know how to I suggest watch some videos or do some research.

Both of them are overpriced. For the money, you'd go way better "building" one off Cybertron's website.
www.cybertronpc.com/customkititems.asp?ic=&kc=gmshkwvx6725pr&Group=PLAY&Cat=GAMERS&iQty=1&Source=&config=&view=customize

It subtracts and add's depending on what you'd like. Keeping the FX 6300 and adding a GTX 980 6 GB from there only costs about $1500. Or if you'd prefer, you can bring the price down to like $300-$400 and run all the games you listed on Medium and maybe high on some (except BeamNG).

Building a computer is way easier than you would think. For the money you're willing to spend, you could build a damn good PC.

Check out this part list for the Aleinware price range. pcpartpicker.com/guide/vD7Ycf/2000-full-gaming-setup-skylake-i5-r9-390-16-gb-ddr4-ram-version-29

Check this video tutorial out, it is the one I used.

Also, that PC simdude suggested wouldn't run a lot of games at nearly high settings. The GPU is terrible and the CPU and decent. For the price, it is a terrible deal.

Cool. Thank you. I'll link into these links. Not only that, does pcpartpicker.com offer financing? How does pcpartpicker.com work when you purchase the parts?

Read the edit. Also, PCPartPicker is just a way to manage the parts. They give you the best place to buy it. If you live outside the U.S. or the U.K., you can always search for the parts on your favorite site.
