TOPIC: Low fps

Low fps 05 Jan 2013 21:34 #6285

Hello.
I'm getting around 30-40 fps on most levels (lower at nights), and thats ruins my playing experience.
My specs:
Windows 8 (got the same fps on 7)
gtx 680
i5 3570k 4.2
16g ram
I can see that my cpu is using all of its cores, but at maybe 30-40%.

Thanks!

You need to search for something like powerplan on your os, mostly it's set to normal, mine was, when I set it to maximum performance it gave me 10 fps more, laptop or pc doesn't matter.

It's not normal to see higher CPU usage than that. CCD isn't generally a high performing game, sadly. I'd recommend taking the visibility slider down, as it takes quite some FPS in city settings. I've also turned down some of the reflections and other options. I tried noticing a difference, but there is none. Try adjusting down settings like mirror reflection and see if you can see a difference. If you can't, just keep it on a lower setting. I've gotten up to a steady 60 doing this.

Also, a lot of traffic will severely hamper your performance. Try 30-40% and see if that clears some things up. Sadly, the game doesn't render its mirrors very efficiently, which is what seems to be a big FPS hog in most cases. Try playing with virtual mirror settings, too.

Try also not having more than 2X AA (16X AF is no performance cost these days, so always go with that) - turn off transparency AA settings, as they can be huge to gigantic performance droppers, especially in the case of super-sampling and especially SGSS (sparse grid super-sampling).

2X AA helps a lot on aliasing (the stepping edge effect), and barely takes any performance.

Turn off v-sync and triple buffering, too, for this game.

Runs fine for me with a 560ti and i7 3770k. Have you tryed updating your graphics card drivers? Get some kind of gpu clock monitor like msi afterburner, and make sure your graphics card isn't downclocked.
Intel Core i7 3770k @ 3.5GHZ - 16GB Cosair Vegenace RAM
nVidia Geforce 560ti - Antec 500W PSU - 1TB Caviar Blue
Windows 7 Ultimate 64Bit - Microsoft Sidewinder FB Wheel

It works horribly for me under Win 8.1 with my i7 4770k, GTX 780 and 16 GB of RAM. Frames under 60 most of times, even under 30 in much cases. Wanna proof? See . Have a look at the upper left corner. Fps are in yellow.

Have you enabled multi-thread rendering?
