I didn't know it was more than the bus fare thing, as it was only briefly mentioned alongside some other news story a few days back.

I can relate to the point of the politicians claiming too much expenses, a similar thing happened in the U.K a few years ago, however it was less important and wide-scale.

I thought the whole reason for the world cup and the Olympics to be hosted into Brazil was to give the economy a boost and help the country as a whole. I remember reading a news story last week that the police are re-gaining control of the favellas because of the world cup.

But if they don't change anything, the money should be spent on more public services, especially given that many people are very poor.

That's just my view, and as I don't live there, I don't know all the facts, and I may be wrong.

Sorry my bad english.

We Brazilians pay much tax to all things, and do not receive feedback. Simple example are the cars produced here.

1 VW Gol (manufactured here in Brazil) buying it with all optional, costs over R$ 40,000 (somewhere around $ 20,000). This car (VW Gol) in Mexico is sold for U.S. R$ 14,000 (somewhere around $ 7000, being manufactured in Brazil).
The tax paid per year to have the car legally is R$ 800 (= $ 400).

This is a basic exmplo, not to mention the corruption that is incalculable size.
See what we get when we pay taxes here.

Public hospital: Queues to be treated poorly (when not die, seriously people sometimes die in the queue)

Roads, highways ....

The amount of taxes paid is more than enough to have a perfect country to live.

Brazil is a country full of problems and should not receive these world events before solving basic problems: security, education, health and everything EVERYTHING.

I will pray for Brazil, and my homeland, the Philippines. This truly is sad news :( . No debates on religion, no arguments, just help change Brazil and help improve the Philippines. They are both third-world countries, and I hope for both to improve. Part of the message is hidden for the guests. Please log in or register to see it.
