The damage thingy in CCD is just simply a texture. I've looked into the files and discovered that the damaged car is actually just a change in texture.

But thing is, I wish if you had an high speed impact, the car would actually change shape, bend and buckle, not just get a smashed window and a few dents. But of course, that'd be too demanding, and you hardly notice it if you don't get in accidents that much XD However, I'd like the signs to be a bit more destructible, because in reality, signs and traffic lights do not cause your car to fly a few miles through the air after crashing into them. They bend.

Yeah, even a simple damage system would be good, many other games manage it fine.

But I guess the purpose of the game would be skewed if you changed the physics so they were more realistic, cause the game would turn into a game that people like to crash a lot XD

The problem with RoR is that the game would be too laggy with more than one car. Even with the world's best computer, after a certain number of cars the framrate would be stupidly low. A simple damage system like Driver:San Francisco would be the best as it is fairly easy to do.

It would be nice if after a few crashes, or after a really bad crash, you would not be able to restart the engine because you damaged it too much :)

Nice, Aaron :) .
Also, it would be nice if there will be a separate model for some traffic cars so some of them will spawn damaged.
